THE PUREST CORE OF LOVE
The sun of pure light
At the core of our hearts,
Where God’s light smiles
And love seeds bloom
Into fields of flowers,
Radiating color, symmetry and peace
throughout our beings…
Into this core
No discord passes,
No hope ever fades,
And none may tarnish its eternal glow.
No matter the day,
We are one in the center of light,
Loyal through time and space
in the purest core of love.
Dedicated to my wife, Nilcelia
TO THE FALLEN LEAVES
Within the fallen leaf
Lies the essence of life,
caressing the sacred earth
and sinking back into the fabric of the universe,
reemerging in the branches of a young tree.
THE SINGING BOWL
In the glow of the morning light,
the singing bowl rings in peace.
There is wisdom in its tones;
Embrace this wisdom
and be centered in its upliftedness,
letting it carry your heart.
The inner glow of the buds
Coming out of hibernation,
Opening all hearts to the sun
and to the light of life;
Blue skies over the flowering trees
and the sprouts in bloom;
Bird songs caressing the morning mist,
intoning the joy of being;
Unfolding light among jungle leaves,
Basking in the distant rays of the sun;
Rain pattering on the forest roofs,
Monkeys chattering on the branches…
Life breathing at the source.
GRACE OF THE PALMS
Waving branches in the winds
Flowing endlessly over valleys and shores,
Drenched by the sun;
The music of the fronds
in choruses of dancing breezes
calls out to Divinity,
here and beyond..
THE LIFE OF A TREE
The rings of a tree trunk
are like a solar system --
and thus like the universe:
Born of a seed,
the life of a tree
until the natural orbits of creation
manifest in the splendor of life,
and steadfast peace.
CLEARING THE SOUL
Heavenly Father, Mother of All,
Sweep the darkness from our souls;
Lift us to our highest peak
And guide us all to what we seek,
Which is and always shall be peace —
The peace that comes of love and truth
And stays above the most uncouth,
That ne’er our souls should sink below
But rather soar and shine and grow.
Heavenly Father, Mother of All,
Bring the light of heaven above
To one and all, that all may love,
That all may know compassion true,
That each forgive and none would rue
Nor wish foul things to be or do;
So thus may all upon this earth
To truest, purest thoughts give birth,
And nurture highest joy and mirth.
SERENITY OF THE ELM
Under the shade of the elm,
the dawn grass shimmers in the morning glow;
The early sun, caressing the leaves,
touches the ground’s green light
infusing the earth with joy.
A bird flying high beyond the clouds,
soft violet rays infusing its wings with healing,
embracing the world with peace…
TO THE OAK TREE
O noble roots of time,
Hands on the bark of an ancient oak,
infusing the land with prayer:
“O noble roots of time,
envelop my heart with wisdom!
O noble oak,
Embrace my being with open reach
from your deepest roots
through your uppermost branches!
May we all fill our hearts with your presence —
Inspired, uplifted and unified
by the soul of life itself.”
There’s a love story in the sky
Written in red and purple clouds
On blue-tinged pages with emerald ink from the shading trees
And silver-speckled twinkles in the sun-drenched air —
Embracing the moon, caressing the stars,
And touching the soft-skinned lips of wind chime sounds
on a summer’s night…
Azure skies in the morning,
As heaven smiles.
MEDITATION ON IONA
O clear, blue waters of the mountain pond,
Lift me up to the highest peaks of wisdom,
That I may know the pure song of eternity,
Now and through all my journeys.
AIR OF WISDOM
Air of wisdom,
Be my guide;
Let thy lofty wings of truth
fly among God’s eternal ethers,
Bringing seeds of ultimate clarity
to every heart.
NATURE AND SPIRIT
Around the pond,
Sweet roses blooming
In the sun-fragranced air,
A gentle geyser of light reaching up into the heavens…
Peace caressing the heart.
WITH GOD'S HELP
With God's help and guidance,
I recognize the fount of Creation
in every leaf, flower and stone,
enabling me to delve into my own spirit
as it unifies with the symmetry and power
of the inner land,
the inner forest,
the inner mountains,
and the inner sea.
Flowing waves of orange sunset gowns,
daydreams in the warmth of the stars,
palm trees in the undulating winds…
Embracing the moon and the purple clouds,
Open your heart to the wafting breeze,
Letting in divinity with every breath.
A rock rooted in the garden,
Emanating its tranquil essence
outward to the meadows
and to the trees beyond…
My hands embrace the rock,
knowing that deep within
lies the Divine Presence.
WISDOM OF THE EARTH
There is grace in the leaves,
Strength in the tree trunks,
Wisdom in the roots of all that grows in the earth —
For they know where to find nourishment;
There is comfort and enlightenment in that grace,
Power for manifestation in that strength,
and balance of mind in that wisdom.
Undulating waves of blooms
Carrying the softness of petal-graced stones
Across the palms of nature’s hand,
Caressing the sweet summer air…
In the songs of leaves,
Beauty fills my soul
BRIDGE TO INNER PEACE
From the arc of pure light that embraces your soul,
The light above the Earth that watches over all,
God reaches out from the Heart of Creation.
From the depths of God’s Love, from the heights of compassion,
Comes a messenger as a rainbow, a thought, or a friend.
And as the warmth of the sun enlightens the day,
Your soul is embraced by eternal love,
Now and for evermore.
The seeds of water are the warp and weft of time,
The deep-enchasmed dreams of hope
From which God planted life --
The life that blossomed forth with e'er-replenished light,
Engendered from eternal love...
Come, o seas of time, let fly thy dove!
TRANQUILITY OF STONE AND FLOWER
The flower rises up toward the sun,
toward the light of the azure sky,
imbuing the earth and the waters about with colors of joy;
The stone stands still,
Anchoring the forces of the land
and crowning the lakes with peaks and valleys of form…
Blessed are the flowers and the stones,
For in their reflection of the divine
they unite the world.
(A WINTER'S POEM)
The leaves descend upon the cooling ground,
Covering and protecting the earth.
Following wind-swept thoughts of passing warmth,
A rainfall from a darkening cloud
Caresses the garden,
Preparing it for the coming Spring.
But the droplets fade,
The air becomes still,
And silvering frost emerges from the depths of the forest.
The last birds fly south,
Beckoned by the sun.
Come, O Winter,
My home of sparkling ice and contemplation:
Let me rest until my soul is clear.
